“We Are Well Able”

Church History

The Universal Holiness Church where the Lord was blessing His people from Hahira where they would make their way down the railroad tracks to a little church in Cecil, Ga. The word of God was truly preached by the late Elder L. Littles. Faithful members, late Deacon E. Brown, Mother Sammie Lee Brown, Mother Mary Lockett, Sister Pearl Homiel, Sister Clara Ford, Sister Jessie Lee Williams, Sister Postdell, Sister Minnie Toolev and Sister Pear Tooley, were positive and supportive in these early days. Their mission and priority at Universal Holiness Church was to reach new heights in Christ.  They wanted a Bishop over them while others of the church wanted to remain with a presider, so by the help of God, the late Bishop N. Hightower arrived an energetic man with a spiritual thrust and an enveloping ministry who extended "to whosever will"…his approach was one wherein he "made everybody feel as if they were a part of the church”.  He sought to lead the people according to the plan that Jesus Christ had established for God’s church rather than the “DICTATES” of man.

At the house of the late Deacon Edward Brown and the late Mother Sammie Lee Brown, a and wife deep in faith and depth in the wisdom of God. The Brown Chapel Holiness Church came alive. Such a loft name with nine members on board Brown Chapel Holiness Church House Of God Saints in Christ, Inc. in 1946 under the leadership of Elder P.L. Robinson, Pastor.

Such a loft name, what could this possibly be? Could it be a dream and inspiration of a rumor in the streets of Hahira, GA 73 years ago or could it be a Spiritual germination that was cultured in the hearts and minds of a lot of little people. Hard workers, strong brothers and sisters who sought to be giants in the spirit of God??? Without a church house and using different churches to have worship services, God sent a woman of God our way.

We were able to buy land from Sister S. M. Brown who also gave the first down payment. The members were successful in carrying out their plans of building a house of worship. The fourth Saturday in May 1948, God blessed Brown Chapel Holiness Church House Of God Saints in Christ, Inc.

Through many hardships, we experienced many trials, we toiled, we labored, and we lost. God has blessed us to overcome each and every obstacle. As we realize the desire of our hearts, we knew that the memories of this struggle a better church home would forever be cherished.

We want the public to know that this church has been made possible by sacrificial giving for which we are most grateful. 6 pastors have served Brown Chapel Holiness Church House Of God Saints in Christ, Inc. during the past 73 years

Through race we have grown through the years spiritually, financially and in membership under the leadership of our pastors. Roads have not been easy, but like Apostle Paul, we knew also that those who love God, "Those who have been called in terms of his purposes; have His aid and interest in everything" Romans 8:22 and by Gods amazing grace we shall continue to go forward.

Every knee must bow

Every knee must bow

Philippians 2:10-11 (KJV)

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
